Professional development program submissions

December 3-6, 2013

The National Ground Water Association is seeking professional development offerings for presentation at its 2013 NGWA® Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting taking place December 3-6 in Nashville, Tennessee. Submissions for workshops, panels, technical sessions and field trips should reflect practical application and technology transfer. Commercial presentations are inappropriate in this setting.

Workshops and panels will be allocated one hour for presentation time. (Fifteen minutes will then be scheduled for participants to move from one session to another at the Expo.) Presentations in technical sessions will be allocated 20 minutes each.

Descriptions should be written to address areas of broad universal appeal and must be submitted in sentence form. All workshop proposal submissions are due through NGWA's electronic submission system by 11:59 p.m. ET (8:59 p.m. PT), April 21, 2013. Abstract submissions for the technical sessions are due through the electronic submission system by 11:59 p.m. ET (8:59 p.m. PT), May 20, 2013.

Proposals are being sought on the following topics:

Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated. NGWA reserves the right to expand, consolidate, and combine sessions or reject them. NGWA also reserves the right to limit the presentations by any one speaker at the Expo. NGWA will issue acceptance or rejection e-mails in late May. Incomplete proposals will be returned.

Important Submittal Information:

  • Titles must be 15 words or less and only the first letter of each word should be capitalized unless otherwise necessary.
  • Descriptions should be in complete sentences (no bullets please). Each description must be 150 words or less.
  • Submittals will not be accepted without complete presenter information including name, employer, complete mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, and a short bio of 100 words or less. A sample bio can be found below. Regulators will not approve an offering for continuing education without a bio.

    Example: Eileen Poeter, Ph.D., is an emeritus professor of geological engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and director of the International Ground Water Modeling Center. Before entering academia, she worked for Golder Associates and then formed Poeter Engineering in 1984. Poeter earned a B.S. in geology from Lehigh University in 1975, and an M.S. in 1978 and a Ph.D. in 1980 in engineering science from Washington State University. She has taught semester and short courses for 26 years. Her research focuses on parameter estimation and multimodel evaluation. She is the author of UCODE_2005, MMA, and Sim-Adjust, and was the 2006 NGWREF Darcy Lecturer.

  • Each accepted presenter will be expected to sign the Speaker’s Agreement listed below.

2013 NGWA Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting Speaker Agreement

Thank you for submitting your presentation for the 2013 NGWA Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, December 3-6. NGWA presents high quality professional development offerings focusing on technology transfer for the protection of groundwater and to elevate the skills of all working within the industry. All abstracts are reviewed and those presenters selected to participate in the Expo will be notified by email.

If selected as an Expo presenter, I understand and agree:

  • I am responsible for all travel costs involved in presenting at the Expo. NGWA will not cover these costs.
  • I must present and conclude my presentation within the time period allocated to me.
  • I must craft and make my presentation to facilitate technology and information transfer. I will not make a sales pitch or give a commercial. Commercial props and materials are prohibited.
  • I am expected to register to attend the event. If I do not register on or before November 1, 2013, my presentation could be removed from the Expo.
  • I may not make statements or representations of statements on behalf of NGWA.
  • All handout materials will be made available to attendees via electronic means in PDF format prior to the Expo. My materials (handouts and presentation files) are due to NGWA on November 24, 2013.
  • By submitting a written description and handout materials to NGWA for the Groundwater Expo, I grant NGWA a license to use, reproduce, and distribute to Groundwater Expo attendees prior to, during, and following the event.

  • By submitting a workshop description you acknowledge you have read and understand the Speaker Agreement and you agree to the terms as outlined.

  • All submissions must be in electronic format.

  • Upon submission, an automatic message is generated and sent to your e-mail address with your ID and password.
