Maintaining Optimum Well Performance - City of Berlin, Germany

Andreas Wicklein, Pigadi GmbH

The City of Berlin's water supply comes exclusively from 900 wells (600.000 m³/day).  The City's well field consists of both traditional vertical wells and horizontal collector wells.  For the past 50 years, the City has initiated a very aggressive research and development program with the goal of maximizing well performance, operation, and maintenance.   This program has resulted in the City optimizing its long term well yields and minimizing the need for replacement wells.  It has also produced a number of innovative well rehabilitation technologies and approaches that minimize the use of chemicals keep wells operating efficiently.
Today, we use our decades of experience in the field of well management to many places across the globe, such as Brazil, USA, Switzerland, Kenya.
