Ground Water in Developing Countries I
Ground water is a vital resource for bringing water to the more than one billion people, mainly in developing countries, who lack access to safe drinking water. This session includes papers that describe the identification, planning, development, and delivery of ground water as safe drinking water for developing countries, with a special emphasis on sustainable solutions. Papers addressing ground water quality issues will also be included (e.g., arsenic, fluoride, nitrate, pathogens, salinization). We seek presenters from NGOs (non-governmental organizations), PVOs (private voluntary organizations), consulting firms, government agencies (e.g., USGS, Peace Corps), and academia.
