Sand Petrography as a Tool for Hydrostratigraphic Assessments
Sand petrography (the microscopic analysis of sand grains in thin section) is an invaluable tool in the petroleum industry. However, it has rarely been utilized in ground water investigations. This session will provide an overview of the approach and case studies of its application in hydrostratigraphic analyses and the development of conceptual hydrogeologic models.
