Naturally Occurring Contaminants: Arsenic, Radium and More
The session will consist of presentations on the occurrence, fate and transport and treatment of naturally occurring contaminants that pose potential problems for domestic and municipal wells. Case studies on some of natures's carcinogens such as arsenic, radium, radon, and uranium will be featured. Abstracts are being sought for the following topics: arsenic, radium, radon and uranium compliance; water system treatment design considerations; challenges for regulators; occurrence in private wells; adsorptive media processes for treatment; geochemistry of arsenic, radium, radon, and uranium; point-of-use and point-of-entry treatment equipment; human health effects; dermal exposure issues; and case studies.
