Centennial Water and Sanitation District, a water provider in Douglas County Colorado, has operated an aquifer storage and recovery program since the early 1990’s. The considerations and basis for implementing its program, water supply and management, a description of the operation, and factors for developing new projects are discussed. The integration of aquifer storage with other surface storage facilities, surface water deliveries, and current operations provides a firm foundation for expansion of such programs to other regional water providers with existing Denver Basin wells and distribution system capacity.
