Aquifer storage and recovery is already a critical tool in areas of the United States where water resources are scarce and in those where the abundance of potable water is inconsistent. Years of existing practice afford the water resource management community with clear guides for the application of aquifer storage and recovery and demonstrate that when properly designed such systems represent a viable water resource management tool. This presentation provides a summary of some of the lessons learned from practice in the field and the resulting guideposts for effective aquifer storage and recovery facility siting and design.
