Operational ASR Wells and Facility

Thursday, April 15, 2010: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Ground Water Summit registrants may enroll in this filed trip held in conjunction with the event for an additional fee. This field trip visits the Centennial Water and Sanitation District (CWSD) facility located in Highlands Ranch and the Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) Northgate facility located in Colorado Springs. To begin the trip there is a tour of Baski, Inc., where the downhole flow control valves used in all the ASR wells to be visited at CWSD and CSU are constructed. Various flow control valves and packers will be displayed to give the attendees an understanding of the operation of the downhole flow control valves. Hank Baski, owner of Baski, Inc., is a former McEllhiney Distinguished Series Lecturer. The second stop on the trip will be the main CWSD surface water treatment plant that supplies the water for ASR injection. The third stop will be the CSU facility, where there are two operational ASR wells. Participants will see a state-of-the-art, fully SCADA-controlled ASR system. The ASR facilities are fully automated to include operations during injection, pumping, and backwashing.
