Continued stress on drinking water sources throughout the world have forced providers and developers to contend with groundwater systems and their protection. This attention has also demanded the continued need for regulators, scientists, and engineers to more fully understand the delineation of resources to be able to provide the data/regulations that will ensure the protection of the groundwater resources. Organized under the auspices of the NGWA Aquifer Protection Interest Group, this session seeks abstracts related to the technical, policy, or regulatory aspects of protecting the quality of groundwater resources, particularly those source waters used for drinking purposes. Presentations include source water delineation methods; groundwater monitoring strategies for aquifer protection; engineered control technologies to prevent groundwater contamination; assessing risks to groundwater; identifying and/or managing potential contaminant sources in source water protection areas; regulatory aspects of aquifer protection; and education and other management strategies for groundwater protection.
