2012 NGWA Ground Water Summit: Innovate and Integrate

How Western Municipalities Are Developing a Sustainable Water Future

Tuesday, May 8, 2012: 8:00 a.m.-9:20 a.m.
Royal Ballroom C (Hyatt Regency Orange County)
Over the years, many municipalities have relied on groundwater as their primary, or sole, source for meeting their communities' water needs. This practice has resulted in a variety of negative impacts, including rising operations and maintenance costs as well as compromising their ability to meet long-term water demands. This session looks at how various water agencies have adjusted their water resource management plans, designed and implemented strategies to provide balanced portfolios based on a broader array of water resource supplies establishing flexibility in meeting growing demands, addressing climate change impacts and long-term sustainable water resource management.
