California has recently compiled a siginificant amount of information on statewide groundwater management implementation, including plans, programs, program elements, what is working, challenges, and barriers. This information is being used to compile a statewide picture of groundwater managment in the California Water Plan Update 2013 - the first time such an amount of information on groundwater practices has been compiled to date in the state. This presentation wil provide an overview of the extent of groundwater managment in the state, drivers, management components that are working, chalenges and barriers, leading to a conclusion of what types of best practices are generally useful in groundwater basins in California.
