John S. Gierke

John Gierke is an associate professor of geological and environmental engineering. He has conducted research in contaminant hydrogeology and remediation of volatile organic chemicals in soils and ground water, sequestration of carbon dioxide in waste mineral oxides, and remote sensing applications for hydrogeology in volcanic terrains. He teaches courses in geohydrology, ground water engineering and modeling. He has received awards for student mentoring, peer reviewing, and remediation research/teaching.
