John Pitz, CPI and former NGWA president, holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Notre Dame University and was the recipient of a National Science Foundation award. His master's thesis was on "The Influence of Thermal Radiation in Transient Thermal Boundary Layers." Pitz served on the Illinois Well and Pump Installation Contractor's Licensing Board for more than 24 years. He is a past-president of the Illinois Association of Groundwater Professionals and is currently chairman of the Contractors Division of NGWA. Pitz also owns and operates a full-service water well construction and pump installation business.
