Groundwater Modeling Advisory Panel: Selected Current Practices in Groundwater Modeling
The Groundwater Modeling Advisory Panel proposes to hold a technical panel session to present the results of the five working groups and provide case examples/studies representative of their conclusions. The topics cover (1) model application, (2) field complexity, (3) step-wise/analytical element modeling, (4) model uncertainty and (5) groundwater-surface water interaction. Discussions and research contributing to the documented results in “white papers” occurred from April 2016 to March 2017. The “white papers” will be living documents open for continuing discussion and revision as professional modeling practice evolves. Results include professional practical observations addressing modeling rationale, relation to project decision making, modeling field characteristics, progression of model development, factors affecting application of model results and total water resource considerations. Case studies highlight results. The five presentations (approximately 8-10 minutes each) would be followed by a question-answer session.
