Keynote - Leave No Benefit Behind: A New Multi-Benefit Model for Green Infrastructure and Groundwater

Often green infrastructure planning and development is hampered by sector and silo boundaries that prevent government and private sector partners from maximizing synergy. These boundaries are not well aligned with the reality of high functioning green infrastructure systems, which are best planned and executed with an eye toward maximizing the range of benefits delivered and the diversity of expertise and funding that goes into design and development. American Forests is working to integrate trees and forests into a multiple-benefit approach to green infrastructure that starts from public-private partnership development and planning and carries through to project implementation and monitoring. This presentation will examine how groundwater benefits from green infrastructure can be increased through this approach, and how the groundwater community can integrate into emerging collaborative efforts.
