Connecting the Dots...Groundwater, Surface Water, and Climate Connections in the Northwest

Portland, OR
September 8- 9, 2016

This National Ground Water Association (NGWA) regional conference on the connections among groundwater, surface water, and climate focuses on Idaho, Oregon, Washington, northern California, and British Columbia. Droughts, population pressures, agriculture, mining, and energy development are intensifying interest on these issues in this diverse and economically-important region. This NGWA conference provides an opportunity to share experiences and lessons learned among individuals involved in a variety of disciplines in this unique region. Abstracts are solicited on all aspects related to groundwater-surface water-climate interactions in these states, including those addressing:

  • Agricultural and urban impacts
  • Climate change adaptation
  • Drought resilience/water availability/scarcity
  • Groundwater and energy
  • Groundwater and soil conservation
  • Groundwater sustainability
  • Groundwater-dependent ecosystems
  • Groundwater/surface water management, policy, and regulations
  • Hydrogeology of fish
  • Hydrogeology of volcanoes
  • Managed aquifer recharge
  • Regionally important aquifer systems
  • Role of tracers in understanding regional aquifers
  • Snow hydrology
  • Surface water/groundwater interaction

Abstracts specifically addressing regional aquifers and their influences are especially welcome.
