Modern Activated Carbon Characterization Methods - Workshop, 1 CEP
Decades ago most activated carbon users were interested in milligrams per liter removals from water and air. Today many are focused on removing micrograms per liter and lowering regulated compounds. Three modern and essential test methods for activated carbon users will be explored: gravimetric rapid pore size distribution (GRPD) determinations, trace capacity number (TCN), and heat-of-immersion. Classical test methods will be compared and discussed relative to the emerging new advanced test methods. Cost and performance of testing methods will be provided. Examples of case studies will be provided to help the attendees to understand what they should do and why.
