Friday, December 5, 2008: 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.
N234 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
Make a difference in the lives of the many around the world in need of potable water. There are thousands upon thousands of water wells in developing countries not being used because of hand pumps needing repair. The needed repairs are often simply a matter of normal maintenance and can be made quickly and inexpensively presenting a tremendous opportunity for volunteers as well as residents of developing countries to have a quick, positive, and tangible impact in areas of dire need. In this workshop, you will learn how to identify the most common types of hand pumps and how to apply the basics of troubleshooting and repair. Ease of training, cost-effectiveness, and opportunities will also be presented. (This educational offering was developed in conjunction with the input of the NGWA Developing Countries Interest Group.)
