Las Vegas Valley Water District (Las Vegas Convention Center)
Receive an overview of the Las Vegas Valley Water District's aquifer recharge program including its history, purpose, and success during this field trip. The tour includes a stop at the Springs Preserve, the historical birthplace of modern-day Las Vegas, where you can view a subsidence area that resulted from overpumping the local aquifer. You will also see the operation of an AR well at the Luce Reservoir site and visit the Durango Hills Water Resource Center where ground water helps supplement the delivery of treated waste water for large turf irrigation applications such as golf courses. (Please note that there is a separate fee for this field trip—the cost is $50.)
