Energy efficiency is a critical issue with every new capital project. New well fields can be designed and constructed to reduce required pumping energy consumption. Several methods can be utilized to calculate well efficiency to determine if improvements are needed to reduce energy consumption in individual wells. In addition, a rehabilitation schedule can be developed based on comparison of work-over costs and the potential for energy savings.
This presentation includes methods for calculating well efficiency, implementing efficiency requirements into contract documents, and choosing rehabilitation schedules to maintain efficient operating water levels. In addition, the presentation discusses criteria for pump selection based on lifecycle energy efficiency considerations.
