Iron Oxidizing Bacteria in the Well Environment

Tuesday, December 7, 2010: 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
N119 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
In the treatment of wells contaminated with Gallionella or other iron-related bacteria, special attention should be paid to the extent of the iron accumulation and iron bacteria counts. The severity of the fouling will affect the selection of well treatment methods. You will learn why monitoring the well through sampling and laboratory analysis following treatment is important due to the difficulty in thoroughly removing these organisms from the well system.
