NGWA Conference on Fractured Rock and Groundwater

Burlington, VT
October 2- 3, 2017

Considerable progress has been made in characterizing and remediating groundwater in the fractured rock environments but much work remains to be done. This NGWA Conference on Groundwater in Fractured Rock is intended to provide a synopsis on the use of innovative techniques, cutting edge research, and lessons learned from practical experience. The conference solicits abstracts on any aspect of fractured rock hydrogeology (water quantity and quality), including those addressing:

  • Understanding the geologic framework
  • State-of-the-art in groundwater remediation in fractured rock
  • Characterizing flow and contaminant transport properties
  • Monitoring remediation effectiveness
  • High-resolution characterization in fractured rock
  • Role of geophysics in fractured rock characterization
  • Role of geochemistry in characterizing fractured rock settings
  • Groundwater modeling
  • Combined remediation approaches
  • Water supply and recharge in fractured rock
  • Arsenic and other natural contaminants in fractured rock
  • Karst flow and contaminant transport properties
  • Large-scale contaminant transport in fractured rock
  • Emerging contaminants in fractured rock environments
  • Impacts of unconventional energy development on shallow aquifers
  • Lessons learned: What didn’t work and why?

Speakers will be notified about their acceptance four weeks after the abstract submission deadline.
