Remediation of Abandoned Mine Lands |
A probabilistic approach appears to correspond better to highly heterogeneous fissured strata, especially under the lack of the monitoring data near abandoned workings. The developed model describes water flow and solute transport in systems of channels generated stochastically as chains of broken lines according to distributed and fracture parameters changing in space. Flow velocity depending on the fracture width is considered as the distributed parameter. Summarizing local velocity distributions yields the global distribution for several fracture systems. It allows estimating water inflows into adjacent workings separating contribution of different sources on the surface.The velocity distributions used together with the 1D transport model determine variations of concentration as the random function. Two stages of migration are simulated consecutively, firstly in fractures and then in open water flows on the working bottom. The resulted function is the concentration of substances in pumped mine water collected from different horizons of mining. The model was calibrated using the data about tracer migration in
Dmytro V. Rudakov, National Mining University Dmytro Victorovych Rudakov was born on January 21, 1970. In 1992 he graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk State University with the diploma of M.S. in “Applied Mathematics”. In 1996 he submitted the thesis dealing with modeling radionuclide transport in aquifers and was granted the degree “Candidate of Technical Sciences” (PhD). In 2007 he submitted the thesis dealing with modeling gas- and hydrodynamic phenomena in mining and was granted the degree “Doctor of Technical Sciences”. He teaches the courses concerning the environment and modeling in hydrogeology. He has published 45 papers including the article in “Ground Water” (USA) in 1999.
Ivan O. Sadovenko, National Mining University Ivan Olexandrovych Sadovenko was born on July 7, 1948. In 1971 he graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Mining Institute. In 1984 he submitted the thesis concerning water inflows into underground workings and was granted the degree “Candidate of Technical Sciences” (PhD). In 1993 he submitted the thesis dealing with ground water control near workings and got the degree “Doctor of Technical Sciences”. Since 2001 he is the head of the Department for Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology. He has published more than 150 scientific works. In 1998 he was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technique.
