Abstract
The Multipurpose Packer System MPS is a discrete-interval isolation system for the sampling and hydraulic assessment of open wellbores. The first MPS design was a rigid column system (Pulido, et al, 2004). This research presents a Flexible MPS (FMPS), which uses hoses instead of pipes, thereby affording manual installation without the need for heavy equipment. The FMPS is a low cost, portable groundwater instrument which permits the measurement of hydraulic conductivity profiles by slug tests, as well as the identification of the storage coefficient through Large Displacement Slug Tests (LDST, detailed in another abstract submitted to this conference). The FMPS also allows water sampling without additional equipment (pump, generator, etc.).
