NGWA Forum on Managing Groundwater and Surface Water as a Single Resource: Merging Science and Policies (#5043)

This forum will focus on the science and policies to collectively manage groundwater and surface water. Its goal is to provide an opportunity to share lessons learned from around the western U.S., in addition to other geographic environs. The event will cover quantity and quality.

Several panel discussions to encourage dialog will be integrated into the event. Abstracts are solicited on all aspects of the science and policies of the connectivity of groundwater to surface water. Potential topics include:

  • Exempt wells
  • Groundwater law and policy
  • How states address private property rights with respect to groundwater
  • Impact of irrigation practices
  • Karst aquifer issues
  • Managed aquifer recharge
  • Managing flows and habitat health
  • Monitoring the interconnection to inform management
  • State approaches to management of connected resources
  • Tribal lands water rights
  • Uses of groundwater data and modeling

Abstracts must be submitted in sentence form and without bullet points by 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, January 18, 2019.

Titles should be limited to 100 characters or less and abstracts should be limited to 200 words or less.

Submissions will be accepted until Friday, January 18, 2019.

    Enter author name, affiliation, and contact information.
  3. Enter Abstract Text

    You will be able to copy/paste your abstract into a text box.
  4. Confirmation

    You will have a chance to look over the submission to make sure all is complete.
  5. General Instructions

    No names or titles should be included in the abstract text. Names will be automatically hidden during the abstract review process and will be automatically inserted and properly formatted upon publication.

    Presenting authors will be automatically informed of the unique ID numbers and passwords assigned to their abstracts. Abstracts may be viewed and modified at any time between submission and the deadline, using the assigned ID# and password.
