Road Salt Contamination of Ground Water
This session includes but is not limited to the following topics: Scientific and policy issues surrounding road salt; Summary of existing research on what is not known about the fate of road salt released to the environment; A summary of experiences with salt contamination in various northern tier States pointing to helpful ways of dealing with resultant problems; A panel discussion that charts advice for the ground water community to offer to those who use the salt; Another goal is the formation of a public education campaign to address road salt issues.
