The Internet as a Data Source for Ground Water Problem Solving
Increasingly, modern ground water management, cleanup, and protection activities are being addressed using sophisticated computer-based mapping, modeling, and analytical tools. These sophisticated approaches, in turn, provide the ability to manipulate large quantities of data, large suites of maps and complex 2-D and 3-D models. Organizations involved with ground water problem solving are using the Internet as an important source of relevant data. They are also looking at the Internet as a venue for distributing information and insight they have for others to use. The Internet Ground Water Data Interest Group of AGWSE is sponsoring this session to promote the use of the Internet in finding and serving ground water data. Examples of appropriate topics include (but are not limited to): Use of Internet based sources and web services for ground water model design, construction, calibration, and validation; Use of Internet based sources and web services for collection of ground water data and maps to support analysis and solution of nonmodeling ground water problems; Use of the Internet and the web for collaboration on multidisciplinary or multiagency projects; Use of the Internet and the web for sharing data, publication of results and distribution of model or software code; Use of the Internet for managing process control applications that use the Internet for transmitting data from remote locations.
