Geophysics Applied to Fractured Rock Ground Water Systems
In the last decade, with increasing computing power and remote sensing, geophysics tools and technology have been enhanced and provide much better subsurface detail, definition, and focus. This session seeks to provide invited presentations on basic and advanced theory, and practical application of geophysics for fractured rock ground water systems. By their nature, fractured rock ground water systems are difficult to understand and this session will provide the latest information on tools to evaluate the occurrence, movement, storage, and recharge in fractured rock systems. Topics sought include: surface geophysics for fractured rock aquifer characterization; borehole geophysics to characterize fractures and fractured rock ground water flow; downhole tools for fractured rock ground water system flow and contaminant characterization; tools to assess watershed scale processes in fractured rock ground water systems; integration, interpretation, and conceptualization of multiple datasets in fractured rock ground water systems.
