Aquifer/Ground Water Protection: Effective Strategies for Protecting the Quality of Our Ground Water Supplies

Given the severity of recent droughts and the current discussions regarding climatic change, never before has ground water fostered so much attention. This attention has provided a much greater need for regulators, scientists, and engineers to more fully understand and protect the quality of our ground water resources. To that end, the NGWA Aquifer Protection Interest Group presents abstracts related to the technical, policy, or regulatory aspects of protecting the quality of ground water resources, particularly those source waters used for drinking purposes. Accepted presentations include source water delineation methods; ground water monitoring strategies for aquifer protection; engineered control technologies to prevent ground water contamination; assessing risks to ground water; identifying and/or managing potential contaminant sources in source water protection areas; regulatory aspects of aquifer protection; and education and other management strategies for ground water protection.
