Senate Bill 1410 was passed by the Oklahoma State Legislatures to conduct studies for the implementation of an aquifer recharge project in Oklahoma.  The initial step in the process was to select a suitable site for the demonstration project.  There were numerous locations scattered throughout Oklahoma where aquifer recharge would be a feasible method for enhancing available water supplies, but due to economics, only one site would be initially selected for the demonstration.
Initially 38 potential sites were selected and a screening process was implemented to eliminate some of the potential sites from the candidate list.  The screening process consisted of an initial “fatal flaw” analyses and a subsequent threshold analyses.  The “fatal flaw” analyses consisted of a few critical parameters and if the site failed any of these criteria, it was eliminated from the list.  The threshold analyses then consisted of a detailed evaluation the remaining sites.  The ultimate outcome was the selection of the most suitable site for the demonstration project.
