Eastern States Water Withdrawal and Allocation: The Dilemma for State and Local Governments

Monday, May 2, 2011: 10:45 a.m.-12:05 p.m.
Constellation F (Hyatt Regency Baltimore on the Inner Harbor)
Historically, water allocation in the eastern states has not received the same level of regulatory oversight as it has in the western states. As a result of the increased demand for groundwater resources and prolonged droughts, state and local government are re-evaluating their groundwater allocation policies. This session will focus on how eastern states regulate water supply. Topics will include authorities at the state and local levels, case studies, and planning for drought emergencies.
