Application of groundwater modeling tools in real-world situations provides the true test of the theoretical developments that serve as the foundation of the analytical, numerical, and other types of solution methods. Practitioners rely to a great extent on development of modeling methods by academic and government agency researchers, and also by the practitioners themselves. Many modeling-method advancements – whether straight from academia, or developed by practitioners – are made in the day-to-day grind-it-out world faced by engineers and scientists who are serving a wide range of clients on many different projects. This session targets such advancements, by fostering presentations that not only explain what they are and why they need to be disseminated throughout the groundwater profession, but also how the dissemination process can be improved, through case-study examples.
