Innovative Techniques for Conducting a Low-Flow Groundwater Sampling Event

Presented on Tuesday, December 3, 2013

Low-flow groundwater sampling is an accepted method of collecting groundwater samples by following a strict set of guidelines that ensure consistent sample representation and quality. You will learn the basics of low-flow groundwater sampling, and how it can ensure better sample representation and quality while complying with regulatory requirements. Groundwater is extracted from the well at a very low rate to minimize drawdown of the water level and to collect representative formation water.

This session will address the use of a mobile device interface for data collection and sampling. Attendees will receive an overview on regulatory guidelines, typical stabilization criteria, and calculations. Attendees will learn about sampling pumps and equipment requirements. The workshop will cover water quality parameters (conductivity, dissolved oxygen, ORP, pH, turbidity) and methods, including recent EPA approval for optical DO methods. Additionally, the workshop will discuss calibration requirements and troubleshooting tips.
