The Misuse of Chlorine in Wells and Pipelines: Is More Really Better?

Presented on Tuesday, December 3, 2013

Over the years, we have believed that a multitude of problems can be cured with chlorine. Some of these problems include, odors, coliform, E. coli, iron bacteria, and even some corrosion issues. When experiencing multiple failures, we simply use more and more chlorine. If we finally succeed, we really don't know why. If we continue to fail, we often drill new wells without understanding why the failures occur in the first place. Topics covered will be the disadvantages of "more" chlorine and the dangers of usage; pH of well water and its effect on success; placement of chlorine in wells; the issue of physical well problems; and local lab tests to better understand your problems.
