Safe Practice in the Groundwater Industry: Electrical Safety and Electrocution

Thursday, December 8, 2016: 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
N115/N116 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
By far the most severe loss factor in the groundwater industry is electrocution. While we may first think of a derrick coming into contact with an overhead electrical line, there are numerous threats from underground utilities, faulty hand tools, and improper maintenance and housekeeping practices. You will learn proper lock-out/tag-out procedures, proper power tool inspection practices, and the critical steps in safely setting up, tearing down, and moving heavy equipment near both overhead and underground utilities.
Attendance at this and the “Slips, Trips, and Falls: Safe Practice in the Groundwater Industry” and the “Materials Handling: Safe Practice in the Groundwater Industry” workshops are required prior to sitting for the exam to earn the certificate.
Information on the exam will be provided at the conclusion of the “Avoiding Electrical Hazards and Electrocution: Safe Practice in the Groundwater Industry” workshop.
Those individuals who wish to earn the Safe Practice in the Groundwater Industry Certificate must sign in and sign out for this workshop. Validation of attendance at all three workshops is necessary to sit for the required fee-based exam.
