NSF Certification and the Responsible Groundwater Steward

Tuesday, December 5, 2017: 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
207 AB (Music City Center)
The NSF Certification carries with it the perception that substances bearing its logo are safe for consumption and non-toxic to marine life. The NSF certification process does not include biodegradable substances; especially with respect to drilling fluids, a condition which most groundwater professionals are unaware. Due diligence is critical when introducing any constituent into an aquifer. This workshop will increase knowledge about the NSF certification process and its objective; how contamination could unknowingly be introduced into an aquifer; and where many state regulations fall short of protecting public health.
