Microbial Groundwater Quality and the Importance of Effective Well Maintenance

Tuesday, December 7, 2010: 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
N209-212 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
In this session, you will look at the issues of current testing methods, the need for alternate microbial quality indicators, strengthening of the well construction codes, and contamination from fecal sources. You will see studies that demonstrate the occurrence of subsurface microorganisms and current well cleaning and rehabilitation techniques that are used to control coliforms and other microbial populations in groundwater supplies.
