Functionality and Troubleshooting Variable Speed Pump Controllers

Understanding the functions and adjustments available on variable speed pump controllers will enhance the usefulness of this technology. Troubleshooting variable speed pump controllers requires some different instrumentation such as frequency meters. Measuring frequency is very important when analyzing pump performance.

David L. Kill received a B.S. in agricultural engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1965. He was employed by Fluid Systems Divisino UOP, Johnson Screens, and Recovery Equipment Supply. In 1996, he joined Goulds Pumps/ITT Industries and currently serves as its Regional Market Development Manager. Kill is a Registered Professional Engineer in civil engineering in Minnesota. He has been active in the water well industry since 1969, and has taught several continuing education programs for the National Ground Water Association and the University of Wisconsin among others.
