Water Well Corrosion: Types, Effects, and Resolutions

Thursday, December 8, 2016: 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
N101/N102 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
Understanding the aspects of corrosion potential within a water well environment is beneficial to the selection of the proper methods of minimizing or eliminating the potential. The workshop will review the various types of corrosion seen in water wells identifying how and where they generally occur. The basic causes will be explained for each type of corrosion along with the associated damage or detrimental effects to the operating well system.

In conjunction the workshop will review the various approaches to minimizing or resolving the corrosion issues within the well. This phase of the workshop will discuss well design and construction decision such as material selection and the installation of various protection technologies. In addition, effective maintenance and monitoring procedures including laboratory approaches to effective corrosion testing, least corrosive rehabilitation chemistries and proper disinfection protocols will be addressed.
