An Assessment Tool to Evaluate Private Well Vulnerabilities and Risk

Tuesday, December 6, 2016: 4:15 p.m.-5:15 p.m.
N107/N108 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
Through a national workgroup of private well experts, an assessment tool has been developed to evaluate what potential risks and vulnerabilities a private well owner might have based on well construction, site conditions, geology, land use, and other factors. Modeled after a public water system sanitary survey, this tool will allow a groundwater professional to work with a well owner to help them understand the potential risks they might have at and around their well. The assessment tool will be described and examples of how the tool can be beneficial in educating well owners will be presented.
