Advanced Methods for Monitoring and Sampling in Karst Groundwater Systems

Thursday, December 6, 2018: 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
N115/116 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
Participants will learn various methods and techniques for data collection, sampling, and equipment/instrumentation use in conducting research and/or collecting data in karst groundwater systems. Covered topics will include an overview of setting up a sampling or monitoring site, sampling techniques, analytical techniques, data logger deployment and utilization, software selection and usage, data processing, QA/QC methods, and other related skills. The course topics will include planning for high-resolution monitoring, grab sampling in the field, groundwater quality monitoring, hydrologic and geochemical monitoring, flood and hazard monitoring, study site security, and others. Software and hardware covered will include the newest sondes, probes, analytical instrumentation, and commonly available data processing and analytical suites.
