Innovative and Time-Saving Techniques for Conducting a Low-Flow Groundwater Sampling Event

Tuesday, December 6, 2016: 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
N115/N116 (Las Vegas Convention Center)
Low-flow groundwater sampling is an accepted method of collecting groundwater samples by following a strict set of guidelines to ensure that you collect representative samples. Learn the basics of low-flow sampling and how to perform a sampling event that complies with regulatory requirements. Groundwater is extracted from the well at a very low rate to minimize drawdown of the water level and to collect representative formation water.

Attendees will receive an overview on regulatory guidelines, typical stabilization criteria, data collection, and calculations. Attendees will also learn about sampling pumps and equipment requirements. The workshop will cover water quality parameters (conductivity, dissolved oxygen, ORP, pH, turbidity) and methods, including EPA-approved optical DO methods. Additionally, the workshop will discuss calibration requirements and troubleshooting tips, and demonstrate the use of a mobile device interface for data collection and sampling.
