Introduction to Solar Water Pumping

Participants of this class will start by learning the basic components of a solar powered pumping system. Next, participants will learn how these components operate and how to troubleshoot them. Then we will extensively cover how to wire solar panels and controls. Attendees will also learn about the different types of solar panels on the market and how the quality of each affects the performance of the pumping system.

Eric Macias is currently the Director of Marketing for Gicon Pumps and Equipment/American West Windmill and Solar Co. He began in the water well business in 2000 and quickly advanced to submersible turbine assembly. Macias attended Goulds-ITT Lineshaft/Submersible Turbine School, a 48-hour pump theory and application class, many Franklin Electric and Goulds-ITT motor and control seminars, and the Yaskawa and Allen Bradley variable frequency drive training courses. He has also taught classes for CGWA, OGWA, TGWA, FGWA, KGWA, and MSGWA as well as private classes.
